FAQ

Who is Milly Macrame?

A small shop managed exclusively by me, Milly! My name is actually Camilla and I am the mind and hands that create the jewels and the heart that keeps all of this going. If you want to know more about me and macrame, click here !

Are your models unique?

Yes, almost all the models you will find here have been entirely conceived, designed and created by me. Behind every model I create there are days, weeks or even months of projects, experiments and tests. This is how I express myself: creating with threads, stones and colours, and playing with the infinite directions and shapes they can take.

What materials do you use in your creations?

The thread material I use is waxed polyester. The wax (which coats the wire) helps me in the knotting process and makes the jewel stiff. Over time the wax melts and completely disappears, leaving the jewel softer.

The stones I use are all natural, I personally select them one by one,  and they come from all over the world. The beads can be of different materials (stones and minerals, various nickel-free metal alloys, steel, brass, wood, etc.); if you have any allergies or sensitivities to particular materials, please contact me before buying.

How to take care of jewelry?

Macramè jewels are very resistant and can be worn for many years, keeping them in excellent condition with a few simple precautions: avoid contact with water as much as possible (especially sea and water with chlorine/soap); when you are not wearing the jewel, store it away from direct sunlight and heat sources (to also preserve the stones).

What are the waiting times for delivery?

Order processing times may vary depending on the period, but usually do not exceed 7 working days. For shipping in Italy I use the SDA courier which usually delivers within 24/48h.

I would like a piece of jewelry that is out of stock. Will it be available again?

Probably not. Each piece is as unique as the stone it's made of, and when I add new pieces to the shop, I tend to create new combinations. However, it's possible to request a custom piece! If you'd like to learn more, take a look here.

When will I receive my order?

If you ordered pre-made jewelry, your order will usually be processed within 5 business days. For "customizable" jewelry (which is made only after purchase), delivery times during peak periods (such as Christmas) may reach a maximum of 14 business days.

Once your order has shipped, you'll receive an email with all the information. Delivery times are usually 24-48 hours.

How to take care of your jewelry?

By following these simple tips, you will preserve the beauty of your jewel, and above all of the natural stones it is made of, for many years to come:

• avoid getting the jewel wet when you can;

• when not worn, store in a dry place away from direct sunlight ,

• avoid frequent direct contact with perfumes;

• Remove it before sleeping or exercising.

You can wash your jewelry whenever you feel the need: use warm water and neutral soap, brush gently with a soft brush, rinse thoroughly, and dry thoroughly with paper towels.

What materials do you use in your jewelry?

The thread I use is waxed polyester. The wax (which coats the thread) helps me with the knotting process and makes the jewelry rigid. Over time, the wax melts and comes away completely, leaving the jewelry softer. I chose this material for its incredible ability to last over time without deterioration.

The stones I use are all natural , I personally select them one by one, and they come from all over the world.

Beads and charms can be made of 925 silver, brass, stainless steel, various metal alloys (all nickel-free), natural stones, glass, wood, etc. The materials used are always indicated in the jewelry description, but if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

How did you learn this technique?

I've known the basics of knotting since I was a child, but I picked it up again in 2019 by watching tutorials on YouTube. Everything else is the fruit of my own ingenuity and countless hours spent knotting and unknotting. If you'd like to learn a little more about me and my encounter with macrame, take a look here.
